The Green Bulldogs will play their home opener against the Ellet Orangemen this Friday (8/19/22) @ 7:00 PM ET in the friendly confines of Green Memorial Stadium. While this may be a new team full of young players, having lost many seniors from the 2021 Division II State Semi-Finals team, many GHS fans are looking for a statement victory from the Bulldogs under the Week 1 Friday Night Lights.

Top 3 players to look out for on Friday:
Robby Klockner (#19)
Former Hoban quarterback Robby Klockner transferred to Green this year after sitting behind 4 year starter Jayvian Crable, and he seems like a step in the right direction for Green. Throwing an INT on the first drive seemed like a bad omen for the season- though Klockner went on to throw 16/25 in a 2 quarter scrimmage against New Philadelphia HS last week. Throwing 2 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. As well as his quick thinking and great scrambles, I wouldn’t be surprised if he could lead the Bulldogs to a winning streak.
Zach Baglia (#13)
Zach Baglia, only being a sophomore, is a newer face to this team. Though it is clear that he is most definitely Klockner’s favorite target. During this last scrimmage, he recorded 8 catches out of 11 attempts- scoring a touchdown on his last catch of the 2 quarters played. It is close, but it is clear that Zach is the best route runner on the team- and it should be well utilized if the Bulldogs want to win their games. Being an expert on short routes and streaks, it’ll be interesting to see what he’s able to cook up against Ellet.
Anthony Manderine (#14)
DB Anthony Manderine has shown that he is indeed a threat to upcoming offenses. Recording a pick six, and a blocked kick. Green’s kick blocking unit has shown promise- and it is due to Manderine. Quickly moving around opposing linemen to block kicks is his specialty, so if he can use that skill in Friday’s game- it would be a main factor to a victory.
Game Prediction
Green wins just like they did last year.
