Green's Mark Kinsley Reaches 400 Wins: A Look Inside Kinsley's Career
Mark Kinsley's 400th Career Win and His Philosophy on Coaching

After a tough road loss to McKinley, Green was still just one win away from reeling in head coach Mark Kinsley’s 400th career win.
That was, until their first meeting of the season with GlenOak.
Kinsley has led his team to a Federal League title these past two years, with his Bulldogs in the running once again after they triumphed over the Not-so-Golden Eagles. Green, GlenOak, and Jackson are tied for second place in the Federal League standings for boys basketball, all sharing a 4-2 league record. Canton McKinley is in first place with one league loss.
Green seniors Brady Rollyson scored 20 points, with Jarrett Taylor nabbing 15 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists. Another Green senior, Luke Jansen, scored 13 points. Junior Antonio Martin added 10 points and seven assists of his own for the Bulldogs.
GlenOak was led by senior Ja'Corey Lipkins with 15 points, followed by juniors Bryce Broom with 13 points and Reese Zerger with 11 points.
Mark, otherwise known as ‘Coach K’ by his players, has spent 26 of his 29 years coaching at Green. Beginning with Ravenna, he left for his alma mater after three years, where he celebrated his 25th season at Green last year. Kinsley’s coaching philosophy is all about physicality; his
defense-first disciplined rosters prove successful. He now stands at only 252 losses ever in his career.
The previously mentioned senior, Brady Rollyson, emphasized the trust between him and his players.
“He listens to us as players and trusts us to make [our own] decisions,” Rollyson said.
If you’ve ever attended a game involving his team, you’ll be quick to notice his activity on—moreso off—the bench.
“On the court, he’s always [off the bench] getting the offense set up…very encouraging and brings motivation to the games,” Rollyson said about his coaching during games.
With that 400th career win under his belt, it's clear that Kinsley's passion for coaching and his commitment to building strong relationships with his players has paid off. As the season continues, it will be exciting to see how Kinsley and his ‘Dogs continue to grow and succeed both on and off the court.
