Green Bulldogs on the Brink of Home Field Playoff Advantages Against Perry
Green Bulldogs vs. Perry Panthers: Friday Night Football Preview
Tonight (10/6), the Bulldogs will dive back into Federal League competition when they travel to Perry. Perry has yet to win one of their last nine Federal League games, but that doesn’t mean an easy win. Green is coming from a dominant homecoming win against Louisville and a comeback against Glen Oak, but they’re still 1-2 in conference play. Perry is last in the Federal League, and Green is right before them. Still tied with Hoover, a win this Friday secures a home playoff game for the Bulldogs.
Green cruised to a comfortable victory over Louisville last Friday, securing a 42-7 win. As they gear up for their next game against Perry (3-4), the team is determined to make it three wins in a row. The Bulldogs face the challenge of adapting to the absence of senior QB Samino Manson. However, they have a promising young talent in dual-threat sophomore Tyson Hunka, who already has two strong-showing starts.

Green has two of the best defensive backs in the Federal League in Antonio Martin and Josh Just. Just has five interceptions, tied for the conference best, and Martin has four, tied for second most.
Perry’s Christian Ivanic looks to be the key player on their team, bearing seven touchdowns and two interceptions so far on the season. Shy of 500 rushing yards on the season, his prowess in the backfield shows against opponents.
So how will Green adapt to Perry’s wing-T offense? Green has one of the best pass defenses in the Federal League. But Green’s run-stop, while strong, lacks against bigger guys. That isn’t to say they won’t be successful. Green will adjust how they need to, and I’m sure their pair of Schaal brothers will run rampant tonight.
