Friday Night Football Preview: Green Takes on Hoover
Everything you need to know before tonight.
Tonight (10/13), Green (5-3) looks to solidify a first-round home playoff game as they take on the Hoover Vikings (4-4). Hoover, currently seeded 13th, hopes to move up in the rankings before week 11 rolls around. Both teams have had equal success this season, having similar defeats and wins.
Here's what you need to know.
Hoover's Hopes Hang on a Hamstring
In the previous week's game against Lake, Hoover's senior quarterback, Carson Dyrlund, had to exit the match during the second quarter due to a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, he didn't make a return to the field. In his absence, the team turned to junior Zach Braucher, who transitioned from being a wide receiver to taking up the quarterback position. Braucher managed to gain 41 yards and scored a touchdown on 12 rushing attempts. However, his passing performance was less than stellar, completing only 3 out of 10 passes for 21 yards and threw two interceptions.
Dyrlund's availability tonight is uncertain, as he is listed as questionable. If he can return to action, this would mean that Braucher would move back to his original role as a wide receiver. This scenario would see him partnering with senior Mason Ashby, forming one of the most formidable receiving duos in the region. Together, they have showcased their talent by making a combined total of 93 catches for 1,054 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Bring it Home, Bulldogs.
Green is coming off of a tough loss to Perry in week 8. All of their losses have been by a touchdown or less. Injuries have been a consistent issue this season, but it doesn't lighten the blow of an explosive Green defense. DB Josh Just, who currently leads the Federal League in interceptions (six), has proved integral to Green's secondary. Antonio Martin has also established himself as a top cornerback in the Federal League, racking up four interceptions on the season.

The Schaal brothers also help tremendously, sharing 22 tackles-for-loss on the season.
Martin also has played a significant part in Green's offense. 383 receiving yards for five touchdowns highlights this, and his partner-in-crime only improves. Senior Zach Baglia has just under 600 yards receiving this season and has racked up seven touchdowns. Their caretaker, sophomore QB Tyson Hunka, has shown flashes of excellence in his three starts for the Bulldogs. In three starts, Hunka has thrown for 272 yards and five touchdowns.
